Cheap Way to Keep Your Teeth Healthy
Pair of strong and healthy teeth help you look best. If you don’t take care of your teeth, it won’t be long before cavities and unhealthy gums make your mouth sore. Eating meals will be difficult. You won’t feel like smiling much either. Take care of your teeth before all of them fall out. You can preserve your beautiful smiles by regularly taking care of your teeth and gums.
The following are tips on how to take good care of your teeth and gums.
1. The first and foremost thing is to brush teeth regularly. A normal count of 3 times per day would be good. i.e. Morning, After Meals and after dinner or before going to bed. Also, there are quite a few fluoride products that are available in market which you can use in the Night which helps in preventing cavities in the teeth.
2. Drink plenty of water. It’s a “natural” mouthwash that can help reduce stains left by coffee, soda and red wine. And by the time you drink coffee, soda, tea or other similar drink, use straw. By doing so can help minimize direct contact between your pearly whites and these staining liquids.
3. Avoid sugar and starches. Both sugar and carbs can feed bacteria that causes tooth decay. It’s just not the sweet stuff – a handful of crackers can have the same effect as a candy bar at feeding bacteria.
4. All dental health professionals always advice their patients to have their toothbrush changed every 3 to 4 months or earlier as soon as the bristles get bent or splayed out. Brushes that are worn out lose their efficiency and can no longer clean well and may even hurt the gums.
5. Choose toothpaste that contains fluoride, which makes your teeth strong and protects them from cavities. A fluoride mouthwash is an excellent idea as it further helps to strengthen tooth enamel. And also try to understand that when you brush, you don’t need a lot of toothpaste; just squeeze out a bit the size of a pea.
6. Floss Regularly. This is also a nice and effective way of getting rid of any food particles from the surface of the teeth and the gaps between the teeth. They clean all the grooves of the teeth and prevent tooth decay. Any type of floss can be used for flossing.
7. Use a tongue scraper. A tongue scraper is an important part of oral hygiene that will also work wonders with stale, smelly breath. Use it to remove the plaque on your tongue, which will freshen breath and presumably slow down the accumulation of plaque on your teeth. You should also use your toothbrush to clean your tongue – then follow with the scraper.
8. Eat a piece of cheese after dinner, munch on some cheddar – it can help neutralize acids in your mouth.
9. Try to avoid Soda, alcohol, and Cola like drinks. As the Cola drinks contain acids like Citric acid, and phosphoric acid. They slowly react with the teeth and dissolve them. These drinks have corrosive effect on the teeth. You can have these soft drinks, which are originally hard, but just don’t become addicted to those kind of drinks. Alcohol also should be avoided. Since it can cause effects on the oral organs like irritation of the gum, tongue and oral tissues.
10. Avoid chewing tobacco and smoking. This is one of the Major cause for tooth and complete oral tissue damage. The tobacco powder and its smoke causes stains on teeth and they weaken the teeth. chewing of tobacco can lead to discoloration of teeth and sometimes this tobacco is also responsible for the dangerous Oral Cancer. So, avoiding tobacco related products is the best.
